On 24 November, 2025, the European Commission launched a whistleblowing tool for violations of the AI Act, allowing anyone to report potential breaches of the AI Act in a safe and confidential manner. This new tool contributes to making AI in the EU safer, more transparent, and trustworthy.
The platform allows anonymous submissions in any EU language, including supporting documents. A secure inbox enables reporters to track the progress of their report and respond to requests for clarification while maintaining anonymity.
Whistleblowers play a crucial role in the early detection of practices that may affect fundamental rights, health, or public trust, directly supporting the EU AI Office in monitoring compliance with the AI Act.
It is important to note that legal protection against retaliation, as provided under the Whistleblowing Directive, will only apply to AI Act violations from 2 August 2026 – until then, confidentiality remains the primary means of protection.
This initiative aims to promote greater transparency and accountability in the development and use of AI systems, aligning with the European goal of ensuring safe and reliable technological practices, as well as protecting the interests of whistleblowers.
With this tool, the Commission takes another step in the operational implementation of the AI Act, providing society and organizations with a direct channel for communication and regulatory cooperation.
